Her friends, including a wolf, bear, owl, raccoon, and others, help Little Reindeer collect treasures such as golden leaves, berries, sprigs of heather, a feather, and more. Little Reindeer amasses these gifts and finally reveals the surprise: a beautifully decorated Christmas tree! This board book is filled with vocabulary words of the things one can find in nature, put together in a rhyming pattern of short and descriptive sentences on each page. Little Reindeer is always depicted with a photographic image, while the other characters and nature settings are illustrated with beautiful, yet simple, watercolor paintings using a natural and calming palette. The two types of illustrations are masterfully blended together, making a lovely composition on each page. VERDICT A charming and joyful celebration of Christmas for the youngest readers.-Kristi Ramsey
