Small-town girl Katie Fisher is planning her wedding. Sure, her boyfriend hasn't managed to pop the question just yet, but that doesn't mean she shouldn't enter a contest in Texas Bride magazine to win the dress of her dreams, right? But when her boyfriend breaks up with her and takes a job in another town—the very same day Katie wins her dream dress—her world is turned upside down. Should she claim her prize? And will the hunky former pro-basketball player who runs the swanky Dallas bridal shop—yeah, you read that right—catch on to her humiliation if she does?
Janice Thompson designs a romance sure to delight, with plenty of fish-out-of-water moments, a hilarious supporting cast, and more of the wedding biz world her readers adore.

Katie Fisher dreams of the day when Casey Lawson, her childhood sweetheart, will propose. Certain that moment is imminent, she enters an essay contest in Texas Bride magazine. The prize is a couture wedding gown designed by Nadia James and a photo on the magazine's cover. Unfortunately, Casey's future plans don't include Katie. Bad timing, as Katie then learns she won the essay contest. What feels like the end is actually a new beginning for our protagonist. When God closes a door, he always opens a window, and Katie's future is about to become brighter than even she could have imagined. VERDICT Thompson (Weddings by Design) launches a new bridal series with a contemporary, joyful Cinderella story that is filled with good humor and old-fashioned Southern style. Readers will fall in love with Katie and the rest of the well-drawn Fisher clan. This swoon-worthy tale will appeal to aficionados of humorous romances by Rachel Hauck and Lisa Wingate.

Katie Fisher has dreamed of the perfect wedding her entire life, and when she wins a couture gown from an upscale wedding boutique, almost all her dreams come true. There's only one snag in her plans: there is no groom. Katie's long-time boyfriend ends the relationship rather than proposing right before she's due to go to Dallas and claim her dress. Katie decides that she has an opportunity that she should not miss and is happy to get away from her tiny town of Fairfield, Texas, for a few weeks. As she stays with her cousin in Dallas and gets involved in the hoopla of everything that comes with winning her dress, Katie becomes less certain about all that she had previously been so sure of. Thompson (Stars Collide, 2011) presents a feel-good romantic comedy of subverted expectations, reminding readers that plans may not always work out but that, with faith, we can have much more. Readers will laugh and sigh along with Katie as she comes into her own, discovering a life and love beyond her dreams.(Reprinted with permission of Booklist, copyright 2015, American Library Association.)
