      PreS-K-Simple overviews describe the features of various animal homes, along with a few examples of creatures that inhabit them. In one or two sentences per page, the text provides the most basic information in language that is accessible to early readers. Structure varies slightly within the series. Nests focuses on animals and the locations of their homes, for example, while Webs looks more at the actual structures, without naming the different inhabitants. Photos present useful views of both the home and the animal. In most cases, but not all, the animal shown is identified within the text. VERDICT Solid choices to fill subject holes in early nonfiction sections.
